Overview

This is a self-guided audio walk through Veliko Tarnovo that runs on your own phone. Once booked, Audio Guide Bulgaria emails a link that activates on your chosen day and stays live for 24 hours, so you can start in the morning or split the route across the day. Commentary comes in English, German, Russian, Bulgarian, Romanian, Spanish, Italian and Polish, and a city map is bundled in.

The route begins at the Church of St. Peter and Paul in the Asenov district and works its way along the river churches, across Vladishki Bridge, up through Tsarevets Fortress, and back down into the old town, finishing near Pencho Slaveykov square by the Monkey House. Entry to Tsarevets, the Prison museum and Sarafkina House is covered by the ticket. The other churches, the Revival museum and the Samovodska charshia market cost nothing to enter.

Because it is private, only your group takes part, and you set the pace. Walkers who like to linger at viewpoints or stop for coffee can stretch the day; anyone pressed for time can skip stops. It suits independent travellers who want structure and commentary without joining a group, and it is available daily from morning into early evening through the operating season.
