ATV Or Buggy, One Hour

Overview

This one hour ride puts you on a two seat ATV or buggy with an instructor leading the way, on off-road routes between Veliko Tarnovo and Arbanasi. Before the route itself there is a full safety briefing and a practice session, and the run can last up to half an hour of preparation before you head out. Riders share the machine, so a driver and a passenger ride together on the same vehicle.

The fleet is made up of 8 ATVs and 2 buggies, with more machines available on request. Along the route the group pauses at pre-selected locations with panoramic views, which the operator highlights as a chance to take in sights such as Tsarevets and Tarnovo. Helmets, goggles and fuel are all part of the package, and an instructor stays with the group for the whole route.

The trip suits travellers who want a short, active slice of the countryside around the old capital without committing a half day. Longer routes of 2 or 3 hours can be arranged after reservation, and higher range machines can be upgraded on site if available. You meet just outside Arbanasi, between the Arbanasi horse riding base and Kaloyanova fortress, with pickup from Veliko Tarnovo possible for a small extra charge.

What To Expect From The Tour

Here is what to sort out before you arrive at the meeting point outside Arbanasi.

• What to wear. The listing asks for comfortable clothes.
